Sometimes we go through life with our eyes closed and never pay attention to what goes on around us. I wrote this song the day I realized sometimes we need to stop and smell the roses.....
Woke up today in the early morn/I Went to my window and the sun was strong/So I walked outside and sat myself right down/I saw a bird fly by heading for a tree/I basked in the sunshine and enjoyed the breeze/As I watched the bird make his way back home/And so I stayed and I sat all day/Watching all the passersby on this sunny day/A man walked by and he said Hello/A lady stopped to smell a rose/And I thought about how I've never done that/We take for granted the simple things/Mother nature and all she brings as we journey through this life with our eyes closed/And yeah I stayed and I sat all day/Watching all the passersby on this sunny day/There's children playing in the street/Happily and so care free/It makes you feel so good inside to see the world through open eyes/The sun went in and the night grew cold/The stars came out all aglow/I sat back and lit myself a smoke/I thought about the day that passed/A smile inside that I'll make last/It's been quite a long time since I've had that/I'm glad I stayed and sat all day/Watching all the passersby on this sunny day/Yeah I'm glad I stayed and sat all day/Watching all the passersby on this sunny day
